Description
- To provide expert technical advice, translate best practice into implementable plans and to establish a central repository of technical best practice based on sound research within the Transport Engineering arena
- Overall responsible for Research and Development of the Roads Authority. Provide technical support to divisions and managers repositories of technical information
- Accountable for organizing, executing, coordinating and interpreting Research and Development projects

Duties
- Leads & directs research projects in Transport Engineering
- Planning of research and development projects in road transport
- Translates Transport Engineering specialist knowledge into RA practices, policies and procedures
- Consult and liaise with internal, local, regional and international stakeholders on road sector related technologies and management matters
- Translation of transport engineering specialists knowledge into RA practices, policies and procedures
- Management of the technology transfer functions
- Maintenance of the central respiratory of technical knowledge
- Management of Human Resources
Requisites
- Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- A post Graduate Degree will be an added advantage
- Registration as Professional Engineer or incorporated Engineer with the Engineering Council of Namibia
- Ten (10) years’ experience in civil engineering with (5) years relevant research and development experience
- Code B Driving License
- Competencies/S kills
- Knowledge of material design
- Knowledge of geo-technology
- Knowledge of chemistry and geology
- Managerial acumen
- Problems identification and solving skills
- Coaching skills
