CENORED is recruiting an Electrician, to be based in Outjo, Namibia.
Description
- To operate, maintain, install and modify all electrical apparatus in designated areas in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with applicable regulations, standards and set procedures, to achieve optimum equipment availability and quality service delivery
- DUTY STATION: Outjo
- FIXED CONTRACT: TWELVE (12) MONTHS
Duties
- Ensure adequate care and correct use of tools in the section and maintain workshop equipment where necessary
- Ensures that the supervisor is kept informed of all work performed in the section by reporting on work orders/request, possible causes, estimated life span of components/parts, spares used, time taken and recommendations to improve efficiency
- Plan and request in writing for an adequate supply of materials, spares and component for use in the section
- Do disconnections and reconnections of existing services
- Suspension of services due to non-payments
- Monitor and report deviations of power supply conditions
- Inspect new and existing customer installations in line with SANS 10142 as amended
- Carry out operating i.e switching, disconnection and making safe according to procedures and regulations in line with experience and authorization
- Responsible for all cable work on existing distribution network, urban and suburban high/low tension overhead lines, transformers and main distribution switchboard metering kiosk & pillars, panels and link frames
- Perform ongoing diagnosis, fault-finding and running inspections on all equipment and structures within the section’s jurisdiction
- Maintenance on substations/mini sub equipment, terrain, urban and sub urban high/low tension overheads lines, robot units, streetlights and high masts
- Do emergency repairs required to maintain or restore supply to customers
- React promptly to all reported electrical breakdowns
- All work related to servicing new extensions according to the electrical site plan
- Do house connections and relevant meter installations on new dwellings
- Ensure that construction work in the area is carried out in a safe manner
- Install, test and commission all types of meters
- Do all tariffs circuit breaker changes
- Maintain safety standards (loss control), environmental, good housekeeping and hygiene standards in all areas of responsibility by conducting regular checks and taking corrective action where necessary and/or reporting the incident to the supervisor
- Responsible for the electrical assistants and electrical labourer, including attending to their queries and work-related problems
- Performs any tasks as may be directed by the Superintendent from time to time
Requisites
- Level 3-trade diploma/test with corresponding full apprenticeship-heavy current
- Three years practical experience after completion of diploma
- Must be skilled for 400V 3phase distribution systems maintenance, operation and construction
- Experience in medium voltage (11kV to 33kV) and must be substantiated
- Code B Drivers licence. C1E Driver’s licence will be an added advantage
- Full Switching Certificate (Authorisation)
- Required Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:
- Problem-solving/Diagnostic skills
- Be able to commission his work independently
- Interpretation of technical drawings
- Safety awareness
- Ability to motivate a team, report writing, computer literacy and knowledge of first Aid
- Ability to manage diversity and good interpersonal skills
