Old Mutual is recruiting a Junior Investment Analyst, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- Researching, analysing and providing relevant information
- Making recommendations regarding investment benefits and upside
- Analyses of companies within their industry, sales & profit estimates, projected rates of return
- Project short and long term values of stocks compared with historical evaluations relative to the market
- Makes recommendations for selection or investment decisions
- Analyses Credit risk and investment case of listed or unlisted Fixed Income instruments
- Making recommendations for the approval of credit limits to the Credit Committee
- Provide support to Analysts, Portfolio Managers, Sales and Marketing
- Monitors equity, fixed income, commodity, money and currency markets
- Maintains communication with local and international stock brokers
- Receives and executes orders for implementation
- Determine, implement and adopt appropriate tactics to implement orders and ensure equitable allocation of trades between portfolios where applicable
- Maintain trading systems and build financial models
- Keep records of investment decisions and meetings
- Keep records of investment performance and analysis of investment performance
- Assists with the formulation, revision and implementation of investment plans which may include fixed income, equity, property and foreign exchange portfolios and economic views
- Performs investment research, monitors developments in security markets and liaises with tax attorneys or accountants to determine legal consequences of investment decisions
- Gathers and interprets data, monitors financial performance, and prepares reports supporting portfolio managers
Duties
- Financial Management and Control:
- Track progress against budgets within established finance systems, and report variances to more senior colleagues
- Financial Policies, Guidelines, and Protocols:
- Contribute to the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice
- Data Collection and Analysis:
- Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently
- Document Preparation:
- Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices, such as standard office software
- Also responsible for gathering and summarizing data for special reports
- Investment Management:
- Support the investment team on more-complex activities by monitoring financial performance and preparing ad hoc reports using a wide variety of existing processes, procedures, and precedents
- Solutions Analysis:
- Interpret data and identify possible answers
- Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures, and precedents
- Internal Communications:
- Help others get the most out of internal communications systems by offering support and advice
- Internal Client Relationship Management:
- Build effective working relationships within the internal client organization, delivering high-quality professional services with guidance from senior colleagues
- Data Management:
- Help others get the most out of data management systems by providing support and advice
Requisites
- Namibian Citizenship
- Relevant degree
- Completed CFA level 1
- Experience in the investment / analyst field will be an added advantage
