Swakop Uranium is recruiting a Superintendent: Planning & Metallurgy, to be based in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Description
- Manage the metallurgical aspects of the processing plant to ensure effective start-up and management of the treatment plant and technical metallurgical support services to achieve optimal availability, utilization and performance of resources
Duties
- Maintain effective control over operations
- Ensure that annual and monthly uranium oxide production volumes are achieved
- Initiate, lead and participate in technical investigations on operations and maintenance of the plant
- Analyse production data/reports, investigate causes of delays and deviations and implement action to optimize process performance and efficiency targets
- Control and implement the plant processing schedules for all processing areas
- Coordinate labour, equipment and material input requirements to meet output quantity, quality and timing specifications
- Review and set work standards, practices and procedures to achieve/optimize process specific utilization and efficiency
- Determine both the scope and need for projects, including maintenance
- Investigate and recommend special projects for short and long term process modifications / improvement of metallurgical process for approval
- Conduct cost analysis for long term projects and operations relating to process optimization
- Assists with feasibility studies to find ways of optimizing efficiency of operations
- Responsible for budget control, based on production requirements, and controls expenditure within approved parameters
- Review contractor service level agreement and ensure KPI’s are met as per the contract
Requisites
- B-Tech / BSc Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
- Honours degree in Metallurgical /Chemical Engineering will be an added advantage
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in a Processing plant environment of which 3 years’ should have been in a managerial capacity
- Experience in Uranium processing will be a distinct advantage
- Project delivery and project management experience in the field of process development for processing plant projects
- Sound working knowledge and application of the Minerals (Prospecting and Mining) Act 33 of 1992 (Minerals Act)
- Extensive knowledge and application of the Health and Safety regulations passed in terms of the Labour Act 6 of 1992
- Sound working knowledge of Mine Health and Safety regulations in terms of the Mines, Works and Minerals Ordinance 20 of 1968
- Code B or BE Driver’s License
