Namib Mills is recruiting an Accountant to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • Responsible for accounting related recordkeeping, reconciliations and summarizing thereof for management perusal – timeously and correctly
  • Responsible for monitoring, checking and handling of control accounts according to company policies and procedures as well as supporting the Financial Manager with taxation, costing, audit and other tasks
Duties
  • Prepare and post accurate accruals and provisions as required in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Ensure expenses are accurately accounted for in correct GLs and accounting periods
  • Calculate interest due/accrued for all intercompany loans
  • Prepare and balance monthly bank reconciliations
  • Prepare and post monthly journals and reconciliations
  • Communicate with various departments to ensure timely completion of monthly tasks
  • Prepare and submit monthly indirect taxes on ITAS and SARS
  • Champion VAT audits as needed for NAMRA and SARS
  • Act as Liaison for the company with Namra as per MOU for AEO Accredited Status to Namib Mills (Pty) Ltd
  • Recordkeeping in accordance with statutory requirements and company policies of all VAT documentation
  • Review and release daily and monthly payments
  • Review and verify new vendor applications daily and assist with pricing/costing calculations
  • Communicate with the bank on general tasks and manage corporate bank queries
  • Manage corporate credit and fuel cards and prepare corresponding reconciliations
  • Performing ad hoc duties as per instruction from your supervisor or management
Requisites
  • Grade 12 (NQF4) with a relevant Diploma in Accounting
  • Five (5) years relevant working experience, which includes debtors, creditors and general ledger experience
  • Experience in FMCG and manufacturing will be an added advantage
  • Proficient in English, being bilingual will be an added advantage
  • Computer literate with good mastering of Microsoft Suite
  • Experience with relevant software, ACCPAC system knowledge will be an added advantage
  • Namibian citizen
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends
