Namib Mills is recruiting an Accountant to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- Responsible for accounting related recordkeeping, reconciliations and summarizing thereof for management perusal – timeously and correctly
- Responsible for monitoring, checking and handling of control accounts according to company policies and procedures as well as supporting the Financial Manager with taxation, costing, audit and other tasks
Duties
- Prepare and post accurate accruals and provisions as required in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Ensure expenses are accurately accounted for in correct GLs and accounting periods
- Calculate interest due/accrued for all intercompany loans
- Prepare and balance monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare and post monthly journals and reconciliations
- Communicate with various departments to ensure timely completion of monthly tasks
- Prepare and submit monthly indirect taxes on ITAS and SARS
- Champion VAT audits as needed for NAMRA and SARS
- Act as Liaison for the company with Namra as per MOU for AEO Accredited Status to Namib Mills (Pty) Ltd
- Recordkeeping in accordance with statutory requirements and company policies of all VAT documentation
- Review and release daily and monthly payments
- Review and verify new vendor applications daily and assist with pricing/costing calculations
- Communicate with the bank on general tasks and manage corporate bank queries
- Manage corporate credit and fuel cards and prepare corresponding reconciliations
- Performing ad hoc duties as per instruction from your supervisor or management
Requisites
- Grade 12 (NQF4) with a relevant Diploma in Accounting
- Five (5) years relevant working experience, which includes debtors, creditors and general ledger experience
- Experience in FMCG and manufacturing will be an added advantage
- Proficient in English, being bilingual will be an added advantage
- Computer literate with good mastering of Microsoft Suite
- Experience with relevant software, ACCPAC system knowledge will be an added advantage
- Namibian citizen
- Valid driver’s license
- Willing to work overtime and weekends
