NAMFISA is recruiting an Actuarial Specialist, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • The purpose of this job is to support the Actuary in providing specialist actuarial support and advice to the supervisory divisions in carrying out supervisory and regulatory work as enshrined in the core mandate of NAMFISA
  • In addition, the Actuarial Specialist shall be assigned any other work covering research, statistics and policy matters to which his/her professional skills are deemed relevant or appropriate by the Actuary
Duties
  • Provide specialist actuarial support to the Supervisory divisions on long-term and short-term issues concerning both solo institutions and relevant industry groups
  • Provide specialist support in the review of policy statements, standards, regulations and bills, where deemed relevant by the Actuary
  • Provide support in proposing changes and reform developments to legislation and subordinate legislation (such as regulations, standards, board notices, directives and circulars) to supervisory divisions
  • Collect, collate and analyse data and research information to monitor and assess emerging trends in the financial sector that Namfisa regulates and supervise. Ensure that such data is received on time and is accurate for decision making i.e., involves checking, editing, modelling and reporting
  • Perform any other tasks as delegated by the Actuary related but not limited to Regulatory and Supervisory Frameworks
Requisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial or any relevant Degree with a Quantitative Major
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in a financial environment
  • Making significant progress with Actuarial professional exams with either ASSA or IFOA or any equivalent board including a pass/exemption in Actuarial Risk Management, and preferably all of the CT’s (or equivalent subjects)
  • Knowledge of:
