Old Mutual is recruiting an Assistant Financial Accountant, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Duties
- Drive proactive management of reinsurance (‘RI’) balances and debtors
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of reinsurance payments
- Ensure reinsurance (RI) claims recovery within reasonable timeframes
- Daily receipting and allocations of reinsurance transactions, premium debtors
- accounts, claims recoveries, third party recoveries and salvage recoveries
- Ensure accurate and timely matching/reconciliation of receipts
- Prepare/process and manage intermediary commission
- Attend to and resolve policy holder, broker and credit control queries (incl. RI)
- Attend to debtors and report on ageing
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of debtor balances (incl. RI)
- Maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Assist Financial Accountant with oversight of Credit Control function
- Assist in providing auditors with required information and resolving issues
- Ad-hoc assistance to Finance Manager, MANCO when required
Requisites
- Namibian citizenship
- Tertiary qualification in Finance or Commerce
- Completion of articles will be an added advantage
- 3+ Years working in an Accounts/Insurance environment
- Computer Literacy and good numeric skills are essential with excellent Excel skills
- Accounting system experience will be advantageous
- Proven ability to meet and exceed tight business and reporting delivery targets on a consistent basis
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- TIA system experience will be an added advantage
- Knowledge and understanding of IFRS
