Dundee Precious Metals is recruiting an Automation Specialist, in Tsumeb, Namibia.
Description
- The incumbent will report to the Superintendent: Automation and Instrumentation and be accountable for:
Duties
- Ensure adherence to all Legal, Health, Safety and Environment standards and policies
- Lead by example through compliance with the company purpose and values
- Support maintenance, production, metallurgical, internal projects teams on software related issues
- Software Management of the Yokogawa DCS and PLC Systems
- Work closely with process area owners and operators to identify and implement process control improvements
- Provide automation and process control leadership, configuration, and ongoing support for operations and projects at the smelter
- Support and maintain site Process Data Historian
- Examine and translate users' requirements and/or equipment-related process control queries into appropriate solutions, which take account of suitability in practice (feasibility)
- Work with the team to implement process control models, strategies, and other methods for ensuring quality output
- Support the electrical team with Schneider and Siemens DOL and VSD integration into DCS
- Provide process control operation with start-up support to meet production schedules and meet business needs.
- Conduct visible felt leadership in accordance with company standards
Requisites
- Grade 12 certificate with a minimum of 23 points in 6 subjects
- A National Diploma or S4 or N6 or T3 or equivalent qualification in Control and Instrumentation with specialization in Automation
- A Trade Certificate and a qualification at NQF level 7 or 8 will be a distinct advantage
- A minimum of 7 years relevant post-qualification process control experience in an industrial production environment and advanced hands-on knowledge and skills of general instrumentation and Process Control systems that include Yokogawa DCS, Siemens PLCs and Profibus protocols and industrial control networks (fiber optic)
- Good fault-finding skills and the ability to perform troubleshooting on DCS System and PLCs
- Process Control Software programming skills in Yokogawa Centum VP (DCS) and Siemens TIA Portal (PLC) is a requirement
- Knowledge of Process Data Historian (Yokogawa EXAOPC and OSI PI Data Historian)
- Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (Yokogawa ProSafe System)
- Ability to schedule work, prioritize activities and complete multiple tasks
- Ability to work accurately under pressure, excellent organizational and communication skills (written/oral)
- Knowledge of precious metals processes and Safety Awareness
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office packages, with strong Excel skills)
- Code B Driver’s License
