World Food Programme is recruiting a Business Support Assistant (m/f), to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • The World Food Programme (WFP) is the United Nations frontline humanitarian agency addressing hunger and malnutrition worldwide. WFP tackles poverty and hunger through a range of interventions: saving lives and protecting livelihoods in emergencies; investing in the prevention and mitigation of disasters; restoring and rebuilding lives and livelihoods in post-conflict or post-disaster situation; and other interventions to tackle hunger. Each year, on average, WFP feeds more than 90 million people in over 80 countries
  • In Namibia, WFP is providing technical assistance to the government of Namibia on food and nutrition security guided by national government development priorities enshrined in numerous national frameworks.Development in Namibia is guided by the Vision 2030 initiative, the Fifth National Development Plan, the zero hunger strategic review and the recent Harambee Prosperity Plan, which all recognize the importance of food and nutrition security and support the Zero Hunger initiative in contributing to Namibia’s drive to achieve Sustainable Development Goals 2 and 17
Duties
  • Under the direct supervision of the Programme Policy Officer, M&E, the Programme Policy Officer, M&E, will have the following responsibilities:
  • Contribute to specific outputs of the strategic business plans
  • Support baseline studies; collect data through household and community visits, interviews, questionnaires and review of project and partner records; monitor progress against indicators and update the M&E system
  • Support the Development of a periodic MEL report; liaise with technical staff to provide data needed for decision-making; gather information for lessons learned stories
  • Assist in compilation and digital illustrations of programme plans vs the assigned project/team
  • Liaise at grassroots level to ensure WFP continues to place the community first
  • Support the compilation of evidence building of Changing livehood communities we serve
  • Support cross functional partnerships for research and innovation
  • Contribute to preparation of events such as workshops, conferences and trainings for capacity building of partners in the MEL areas
  • Support preparation of project reports and policy briefs regarding various projects and programme
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned
Requisites
  • Education: Completion of secondary school education, A post secondary qualification in statistics or Economics, will be an advantage
  • Experience: 3 or more years of working experience related to M&E and in the relative business stream with experience in general administrative work
  • Knowledge & Skills:
  • Proficient in the use of office equipment and computer software packages, such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of work routines and methods in order to complete processes under minimal supervision
  • Uses tact and courtesy to give and receive information to a wide range of individuals
  • Ability to identify data discrepancies and rectify problems requiring attention
  • Language: General Service (Field): Fluency in both oral and written communication in English
