Agra is recruiting a Compliance Clerk, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • The successful incumbent will be based at Corporate Office and report to the Manager: Governance, Risk & Compliance
Duties
  • Transaction Review and Processing:
  • Capture FIA on EFT and Cashbook
  • Link new account numbers to EFT and Cashbook
  • Link Auction numbers to account numbers and identify duplicates
  • Allocate and create account numbers for new clients
  • Sanction screening of clients when required in line with FIA
  • Review and analyse transactions for potential suspicious activity, conducting preliminary investigations as necessary and make recommendations for further actions or escalation as appropriate
  • Record Keeping:
  • Ensure compliance with the Financial Intelligent Act by keeping record of all documents required for livestock clients
  • Sorting and filing of all FIA forms received
  • Verify FIA details for all payments to external parties
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to compliance activities, including transaction reports, risk assessments, and training records, as mandated by FIA
  • Policy and Procedure Maintenance: Assist the Manager GRC to update, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines that address the specific requirements of FIA
  • Regularly review and revise these documents to reflect changes in legislation and best practices
  • Risk Assessment:
  • Assist the Manager: GRC to conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance and financial crime risks. Collaborate with relevant departments to mitigate identified risks and implement necessary controls
  • Training and Awareness:
  • Assist the manager GRC to design and deliver training programs to educate employees about the provisions of FIA, their responsibilities, and the importance of compliance in preventing financial crimes
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Assist in the preparation and timely submission of reports to senior management and regulatory authorities as required
  • Internal Collaboration:
  • Work closely with various internal departments, such as Auctions, Properties, Loss Prevention and Investigations, and Operations, to ensure a coordinated approach to compliance efforts
  • External Liaison:
  • Serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies, Internal and External auditors regarding compliance matters related to FIA
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay updated on developments in financial crime, money laundering, and terrorism financing trends, as well as changes in legislation
  • Recommend and implement improvements to the compliance program to enhance its effectiveness
Requisites
  • Qualifications & Attributes:
  • Namibian citizenship
  • A Grade 12 Certificate
  • A relevant Degree, Certification or Diploma in Law / Compliance Management / Risk Management / Finance will serve as a distinct
  • Minimum of 6 months’ experience as a Compliance Officer/ Focus on regulatory compliance, anti-money laundering (AML) and countering the financing of terrorism (CFT) would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of FIA and related regulations
  • Computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases
  • Ability to compile detailed reports
  • Sound knowledge in relevant laws, rules and regulations
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
  • Sound independent judgement
  • Effective communication and consultative skills
  • Proficiency in English (written & spoken)
  • Driver’s licence (Code B)
