Nedbank is recruiting a Divisional Risk Officer, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • To facilitate and coordinate the implementation, ongoing execution and continued enhancement of effective and efficient risk management practices within Nedbank to make us world class at managing risk and so achieve our strategic objectives
Duties
  • Support implementation of new or revised frameworks and policies within the business unit
  • Assist to identify, capture, maintain and monitor Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSA’s) and Key Risk Indicators (KRI’s) on SAS eGRC
  • Monitor and guide business unit on control adequacy and effectiveness
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes by identifying and recommending improvements to procedures
  • Ensure that all Operational Risk Losses, Gains, Recoveries and Near Misses are reported to Operational Risk Management (ORM) and captured on SAS eGRC
  • Investigate business unit risk issues and serve as the custodian for the end-to-end risk and loss incident reporting process
  • Analyse data sets to identify trends, escalate exceptions and recommend corrective measures to mitigate potential risks
  • Develop monitoring processes and models
  • Assist business unit to perform and review risk assessments and prepare risk profiles
  • Business Process Mapping - ensure key business processes are reviewed regularly and are linked to relevant risks and controls.
  • Business Continuity Management - ensure compliance with framework, policy and manual, maintaining plans for the business unit
  • Implement and facilitate risk based programs or ad hoc projects in the business
  • Develop and monitor risk related reports to ensure business unit management understand and take appropriate action on inherent risks and understand the impact of the decisions made to mitigate the risk
  • Facilitate all administrative risk reporting requirements to management, management committees and ERCO
  • Attend management committee meetings and provide continuous feedback to management on all risk and loss related matters
  • Conduct risk impact analysis of business strategy
  • Provide recommendations and guidance to management with respect to all risk related queries
  • Facilitate interaction between business units, second, third and fourth lines of defence
  • Ensure own deliverables are accurate, timely, in the correct format and tailored to meet stakeholder requirements
  • Educate stakeholders on risk trends, systems, updates and legislative requirements to mitigate risk
  • Facilitate a risk awareness culture within the divisions
Requisites
  • Abilities Requirements:
  • Must have a self-confidence and be a self-starter
  • Good analytical skills, problem solving and ability to formulate solutions in context of business unit
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Knowledge of banking operations / industry and Risk Management
  • Essential Qualifications - NQF Level:
  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
  • Qualification Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Commerce Degree or tertiary qualification in Risk Management
  • Minimum Experience Level:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the banking environment of which at least 1 year experience in risk and/or compliance discipline
  • Computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
