Draughtsperson (m/f)

Description

• To prepare designs and workshop drawings in various disciplines such as Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, Architectural and Civil according to required specifications

Duties

• Prepare detailed models from sketches, marked up prints, layouts, and documentation for approval
• Prepare drawings by using knowledge of standard drafting practices and acceptable engineering standards to select various views, symbols, legends and sectional views
• Conduct site visits to gather information necessary to complete drawings, by viewing and talking measurements relative levels
• Prepare flow sheets from engineers or metallurgists' sketches
• Make revisions to existing drawings from written and verbal descriptions
• Make arithmetic computations, by using standard formulas for dimensions, scale, and area
• Prepare notes and descriptions for revisions, using standard abbreviations and engineering terms
• Prepare working diagrams of plant, equipment and mechanical devices including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information
• Develop detailed design drawings and specification, dies/tools, and control using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment
• Layout schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, plant and equipment
• Provide documentation, detailed instructions, drawings or specification to the Supervisor and recommend how devices, parts, equipment or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained or used
• Maintain the Drawing Office filing system to support the smooth running of the section, by receiving, sorting, filing, retrieving and printing drawings on request
• Produce bill of material from drawings on requests
• Check for availability of material on CMMS to inform models

Requisites

• Grade 12
• National Trade Diploma/Certificate N3 or equivalent Draughting Certificate or Diploma
• 3 years’ work experience in mechanical and structural Draughting in a mining or related environment
• Parametric model experience will be an added advantage
• Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License
