General Manager: Capital Markets

NAMFISA is recruiting a General Manager: Capital Markets, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • The position reports to the deputy ceo: prudential supervision
  • Division: capital markets
  • The purpose of the job is to strategically plan, organize, and control the NAMFISA Capital Markets Division, and to lead the team of professional staff undertaking the supervision and regulation of all capital markets institutions
Duties
  • Regulation and Supervision of Financial Markets and Investment Institutions
  • Provision of supervision and strategic direction to the self regulatory organizations (SRO) and others
  • Provision of strategic direction to the division by developing and implementing divisional business plan in line with formulated corporate strategic objectives
  • Manage staff in line with NAMFISA policies and procedures
  • Liaise with and render advice to all stakeholders regarding corrective measures or other action to be taken
  • Represent the Authority at various levels, including committees, seminars and other industry meetings, both locally and internationally
  • Manage relationships with management and subordinates
  • Build and maintain relations with relevant stakeholders such as Bank of Namibia, Ministry of Finance, other regulators and law enforcement agencies
Requisites
  • Qualifications and Experience:
  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Law, Economics, Investment/Portfolio Management or related field
  • Ten (10) years’ relevant experience, with 5 years in middle management
  • OR
  • Honours Degree in Economics, Commerce, Investment/ Portfolio Management; and
  • Twelve (12) years’ relevant experience, with five (5) years in middle management
  • OR
  • LLB Degree (or equivalent) and admission to practice as a legal practitioner; AND
  • Twelve (12) years’ related experience, with five (5) years in middle management
  • OR
  • CFA Certification of a Chartered Accountant (CA) designation; and
  • Twelve (12) years’ relevant experience, with five (5) years in middle management
  • MBA will be an added advantage
