DBN is recruiting an IT Engineer: Systems and Network, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- Reporting to the Manager: IT Infrastructure, the IT Engineer: Systems and Network is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient planning, maintenance, administration and management of the IT Systems, database and network infrastructure and network security within the Bank, providing second line support to all departments and monitoring IT Hardware, software and networking tools to meet the Bank’s current and future needs

Duties
- Monitor infrastructure regularly and provide recommendations on products, services, protocols and standards in support of maintenance and procurement requirements
- Perform disaster recovery tests and ensure the accuracy of the backups for all systems
- Develop and maintain back-up policies and procedures
- Compile monthly reports on systems uptime and incidents
- Assist in the development of guidelines and procedures for administration and security best practices
- Set up user workstations ensuring all required software is loaded
- Install new software releases and system upgrades and evaluate and install patches
- Provide individual training and support on use of existing technology as required Plan, design, improve and upkeep of the Bank’s Local Area Network (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs) and Wireless
Network
- Monitor security regularly to identify possible intrusions and maintain overall network security
- Assists in implementation of information security framework based on ISO/IEC 27001
- Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans as required by policy and procedures
Requisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Bachelor of Information Technology in Systems Administration & Networks or related IT degree (NQF Level 7)
- CCNA, MCSE, ITIL, CompTIA Security+ will be an added advantage
- Minimum of 4 years’ work experience as IT Engineer, Systems or Network Administrator
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Sound customer orientation/focus
- Ability to work in teams and interpersonal sensitivity
- Attention to detail and analytical skills
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
