B2Gold is recruiting a Junior Engineering Geologist (m/f), to be based in Otjiwarongo, Namibia.
Description
- This position is responsible for field data collection, monitoring, analysis and interpretations as well as report writing
Duties
Geotechnical Operations
- Inspect benches and berms for signs of rock instability
- Perform Field and Photogrammetry Mapping of mined faces in the Pit
- Assist with demarcation of areas in different risk categories
- Update hazard plan maps regularly
- Take water level readings in water wells
- Execute core logging, including detailed geotechnical structure and zone logs
- Perform supervision duties of the drilling crew at the rig to ensure good quality control
- Perform daily inspection and monitoring of the ARCSAR (Mobile Pit Slope Monitoring Radar) and the FM (Fixed Module) as well as troubleshooting of errors
- Provide support and assistance in installing and monitoring Prisms
Safety, Health and Environment
- Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
- Comply with the Namibian Mining Act (Labour Act, Ordinance, Minerals Act, Explosives Act) and Regulations clauses that apply to your work area
- Actively participate in safety and/or toolbox meetings and conduct a monthly safety inspection of work area based on the schedule set by Management
- Maintain a safe working environment and keeping the assigned work area clean and tidy
- Ensure all safe working procedures are documented and adhered to
Requisites
- Minimum requirements
- Grade 12
- Minimum Technical Diploma in Geological or Geological Engineering field (NQF Level 6)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in mine operations
- Valid code B driver’s license
