Bank Windhoek is recruiting a Junior Financial Accountant, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • To assist and support the Financial Accountants with all day-to-day financial accounting activities of the department
Duties
  • General Accounting Duties:
  • Assist with the review and processing of all accounting transactions on the accounting systems
  • Assist with the adherence to all set deadlines and procedures related to the processing of all accounting transactions
  • Assist with the execution of all payment activities in the department
  • Responsible for preparation and processing of the monthly payroll
  • Responsible for uploading and maintenance of lease contracts and recurring batches on the SAP system in accordance within set deadlines
  • Reconciliations:
  • Responsible for the preparation and reviewing of all reconciliations related to debtors, creditors, cheque accounts and general ledgers
  • Assist with the resolving of outstanding queries and balances related to reconciliations and to ensure that remedial action is taken
  • Assist with the managing of the quality and turnaround times of all reconciliations
  • Administration:
  • Assist with the day-to-day monitoring, analyzing and escalation of system errors originating from Phoenix nightly transactions
  • Assist with the completion and updating of all operational checklists in the department and within set deadlines
  • Report all near misses and losses on MetricStream
  • Identify process improvement areas and make relevant recommendations to management for improving operational excellence in the department
  • Customer Service:
  • Ensure that both internal and external customers are treated in a helpful, professional, and friendly manner
  • Ensure that all day-to-day customer queries are handled in a timeous manner and feedback provided to clients and management
Requisites
  • Experience, Skills and Knowledge Required:
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience, preferably in financial industry
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, meet deadlines and deliver high quality of work
  • Reliable and have great attention to detail
  • Have good problem-solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership
  • Possess good time management, planning and organizing skills
  • Willingness to work extended hours when required
  • Intermediate to advanced computer software skills including Excel and Word
  • In-depth knowledge of the VAT Act
  • Knowledge of the accounting system (SAP) and processing will be an added advantage
  • Qualifications:
  • B Comm Degree in Accounting or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution
