DBN is recruiting a Manager: Collateral Administration (m/f), to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • Reporting to the Senior Manager: Credit Risk, the Manager: Collateral Administration is responsible for the provision of an effective collateral management framework and specialized resourced collateral support to the Bank and to manage the Collateral Unit within DBN and to achieve the business unit’s objectives
Duties
Strategic Management
  • Provide input to the development of the Credit Department’s strategy, policies and procedures from a collateral administration perspective
  • Plan and implement the Collateral Unit’s tasks and deliverables and monitor progress, addressing deviations and changes as required
Operational Management
  • Administer the Collateral Administration unit’s functions in order to mitigate credit risk and legal implications to the Bank in compliance with the Bank’s rules, policies and procedures
  • Stay abreast with the changes to applicable laws and recommend appropriate amendments to the Collateral Manual and the Collateral process flows in the Bank
  • Provide appropriate reports and give feedback on the operational matters of the Collateral Administration Unit, such as variances on the -Security Values against the budget, status quo of collateral, and liaise with the Head of Departments, Internal- and External Auditors with regards to Collateral matters, findings and the implementation of corrective measures
  • Monitor and control the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the unit to ensure compliance with DBN policies and procedures, business processes and documentation and data requirements, including recovery of legal fees, valuation fees and stamp duty costs, the administration of Guarantees, Bid Bonds and Letters of Undertaking, the administration of investments offered as security, the administration and verification of legal documentation, controlling the quality, completeness and accuracy of client and transaction information
  • Manage an agreed level of client satisfaction for services to and interactions with clients on documentation, legal collateral and guarantees
  • Implement effective mechanisms to track changes in clients’ loans conditions that impact the securities and legal situation and take appropriate steps to remedy this
Financial Management
  • Manage the Collateral Administration unit’s expenses to remain within the constraints of the agreed contracted budget and explore and implement ways of cost reduction without impacting productivity negatively
People Management
  • Setting performance targets, conducting performance reviews, providing feedback and coaching, addressing development needs, maintaining clear communication channels and sharing information, and resolving high level queries, problems and conflict situations
Requisites
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Banking. A Legal qualification will be an advantage
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in credit administration, of which 5 years should be in a collateral environment, including experience in conveyancing
  • Knowledge of Business and Administration Procedure
  • Advanced understanding of credit applications and associated risk
  • Computer literacy is essential (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). An in-depth knowledge of the SAP loan module will be an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer orientation/focus
  • Ability to work in teams and interpersonal sensitivity
  • A strong organizing ability and a high level of resilience
  • Proven supervisory skills and control competence
