Ohorongo Cement is recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Manager, to be based in Plant Sargberg, between Tsumeb and Otavi, Namibia.

  • Reporting to the Executive:
  • Plant Operations, the Mechanical Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and managing the mechanical maintenance function of the plant, including mobile equipment, utilities, and supporting infrastructure
  • This role oversees a multidisciplinary team, ensures timely and effective maintenance, coordinates with other departments, and manages contractors and external service providers
  • The manager also ensures legal compliance, optimises spare parts inventory, supports continuous improvement, and fosters a strong safety and performance-driven culture within the team
  • TYPE: Full Time
  • SALARY: Market Related
Duties
  • Lead the mechanical maintenance team, including engineers, planners, and condition monitoring personnel
  • Ensure the timely maintenance of all plant equipment, mobile machinery, and utilities (water and compressed air)
  • Respond swiftly and effectively to unplanned equipment failures
  • Oversee external contractors and service providers for specialised maintenance tasks
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with Production, Electrical, and Automation departments
  • Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and legal standards, including inspections of lifting equipment and pressure vessels
  • Optimise spare parts inventory to minimise cost and risk
  • Implement and support continuous improvement of systems, planning, cost control and safety initiatives
  • Foster a high-performance team culture through training, mentoring, and performance management
Requisites
  • Eng. or B.Sc. Eng. in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering
  • Certification as a Competent Engineer and ECSA or Engineering Council of Namibia registration is advantageous
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience in a middle-management role within heavy industry, mining, cement, or construction environments
  • Experience in Asset Management, Condition Monitoring, or Mechanical -Projects is highly desirable
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills
  • Leadership and team management ability
  • Proficient in maintenance planning
  • Warehouse stock control and management experience will be an advantage
  • Solid understanding of mine and factory safety regulations
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English
