Capricorn Group is recruiting a Network Engineer (m/f), to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • The Network Engineer will be responsible for the installation, administration, configuration, and monitoring of networks in a multi-country and multi-site environment. The Network Engineer will be part of a network team providing 24x7x365 rotated on-call support for the network infrastructure and network security environments. This position will engage with other support staff to monitor, diagnose and resolve network-related issues for Group and its Subsidiaries. This position will also require the Network Engineer to travel
  • This role needs to work closely with the database, server, and desktop engineers as well as service desk agents to provide technical support on the various network equipment and platforms
  • The Network Security Engineer will hold a key role in designing, testing, documenting, and reviewing network-based solutions in these various areas It is the responsibility of the Network Engineer to ensure the security integrity of the Group network and will ensure that where security policies exist, they are enforced and if there are shortcomings they are rectified and/or brought into place
Duties
  • Provide guidance and assistance regarding the planning and implementation for the network security infrastructure
  • Provide guidance and assistance to maintain the network security infrastructure and resolve any issues that might occur
  • Take Control and Assist in continuously improving and enhancing existing IT Security Infrastructure elements, processes, and procedures
  • Monitor network security infrastructure performance, availability, and uptimes Report and escalate any network security breaches
  • Understand and focus on the security governance, guidelines, and adherence to PCI-DSS standards, processes, and procedures
  • Ensure continuous improvement of network availability, scalability, and reliability with a strong focus on improving efficiencies at the same time
  • Capital budgeting for network security-related solutions, upgrades, and improvements. Reporting on network security status, communication links, and LAN/WAN and WiFi devices
  • Install, setup, and maintain network security monitoring tools and system security performance management tools
  • Disaster Recovery
  • Liaise with the security product vendors
Requisites
  • Grade 12
  • N international certificate
  • CCNA routing and switching international qualification (qualify within 4 months of acceptance)
  • CCNP an advantage
  • 5 years hands-on experience as a Network Engineer
  • LAN/WAN protocols
  • Cisco Routers
  • Cisco Switches
  • Telecom Digicon
  • Firewall and VPN knowledge and understanding
  • PCI-DSS knowledge and understanding
  • Good Leadership skills

  • Training Requirements For This Position:
  • CCNA (if not already done)
  • CCNP, Security, Firewalls, VPN, Information, Cybersecurity, Data Center, Wireless, etc. Checkpoint Firewall
  • Any other security product that connects to the Capricorn Group network
