CGN is recruiting an Officer: Radio & Telephone (m/f), to be based in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Description
  • To install, commission and maintain the radio communication systems, electronic equipment, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phones system and Video Conference System in order to ensure effective and efficient management of all the systems and projects related to the Swakop Uranium (SU) voice data communications infrastructure, network circuits, hardware and connectivity between Husab Tower, Husab Mine as well as China
Duties
  • Responsible for diagnosis, repairs, maintenance and installation of radio communication/audio/video services, equipment and associated accessories
  • Tests and installs minor modifications on the electronic equipment on control systems for the improvement of existing digital radio system, video conference as well Telephone system as per Supervisor
  • Carries out maintenance work or new installations; inspection by Supervisor to ensure that correct standards and specifications are met
  • Controls and prioritizes maintenance and/or breakdown work with the view of ensuring that services and/or operations are restored with minimal delay and disruption
  • Performs ongoing capacity and performance planning to enable more pro-active responses to project service requirements
  • Maintains relevant administrative functions of the section as stipulated by Supervisor, by:
  • Recording the relevant job specifications and information as specified
  • Maintaining technical documentation
  • Assisting with the collating statistics/information for inclusion in the line management Month-End Report
  • Assists in planning and maintaining an adequate supply of spares and equipment material in accordance with an authorized budget and operational requirements
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge and skills, and remains up to date with international standards in own related field trends and practices, by networking, and distributes relevant information gained to the department for implementation, after approval by superior
Requisites
  • Grade 12 with a Radio Network Engineering Certificate (N3), OR
  • National Diploma in Electronics (T3, N6, S4), majoring in Radio Engineering, Electronic Communication or related
  • At least 2 years’ relevant/practical experience in radio/electronics engineering network infrastructure
  • Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License
