Operator: Machine

Description

• Reporting to the Manager: Packing, the Operator: Machine will be responsible for the effective functioning and daily packing, mixing and cleaning of machines allocated to the Operator
• The Operator: Machine will work in dedicated capacity specializing in a single machine or class of machines

Duties

• Deliver daily output of product in line with machine capacities and targets as set by the business
• Responsible to ensure that the production line's KPI targets are met or exceeded
• Perform daily routine maintenance checks on the machine
• Perform safety checks on the equipment operated throughout the production process
• Responsible for the coordination of size changeovers with the maintenance team
• Responsible to make corrective adjustments to the machine as needed for changeovers, different functions, or other varying needs of production in consultation with the Controller: Packing and Maintenance team
• Respond to unplanned stoppages and breakdowns and carry out basic problem solving without compromising the efficiency of the machine or quality of the product
• Perform daily routine maintenance duties (excluding major services) on the machine in line with the machine specifications and maintenance programs and requirements
• Ensure that enough packing material and/or consumables or raw materials are available to ensure continued operation on the machine to gain maximum output
• Ensure that supporting equipment on the machine such as date coders and stitchery are functional and support output targets
• Responsible for the effective functioning of the machine and supporting equipment as mentioned above

Requisites

• Grade 12
• Any Technical Trade background will be an advantage
• A minimum of 5 years work experience in a FMCG environment as an operator on a similar type of machine used by Bokomo Namibia
• Result driven achiever
• Be prepared to work odd hours and overtime when required
• Be prepared to work shifts
