- The purpose of the job is to assist the Policy Advisor in the planning, development, formulation and implementation of Namibia’s nonbanking sector regulatory policy framework

Duties
- • Collect, collate and analyse data and research information to monitor and assess emerging trends in the financial sector that NAMFISA regulates and supervise
- Assist with the assessment of laws for weaknesses or gaps
- Assist and participate in the review and drafting of prudential standards and regulations under the proposed legislation
- Provide background research on policy issues and regulatory gaps or weaknesses identified by the Policy Advisor
- Regularly, contribute to the preparation of the statutory publications
- Compilation of financial soundness indicators for the Insurance Institutions
- Participate in the preparation of position papers on regulatory and supervisory policy issues
- Conduct research on relevant topics and assist in the preparation of position papers on regulatory and supervisory policy issues
- Contribute to and participate in the design and implementation of an effective macro-prudential surveillance framework across the financial sector, with focus on Insurance Industry

Requisites
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (Economics, Law, Finance, Public Policy) AND a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the non-banking financial sector
- Significant exposure to at least one or more of the following industries: Long term or Short-Term Insurance
- Significant exposure to the legislation governing the nonbanking financial sector in Namibia
- Proven record of research in the non-banking financial sector in Namibia and regionally
- Knowledge of:
- NAMFISA’s mission, objectives, functions, processes and systems
- Knowledge of relevant legislation
- Industry business knowledge and understanding
- Up to date with industry trends and legislative environment
- Understanding and interpretation of laws
- Risk assessment knowledge and understanding
