Komatsu is recruiting a RAMP Foreman (m/f), to be based in Oranjemund, Namibia.
Description
  • Komatsu is a leading company within the mining and construction earth moving equipment industry. We are currently seeking a foreman with Grade 12 and at least 4 years’ working experience
Duties
Machine Inspections
  • Plans for inspection of equipment (new and used in stock), with regard to dates, workshops, nomination of service, stock and other resources
  • Agrees work steps and technical issues
  • Supervises and controls machine/equipment inspections for compliance & quality control
  • Updates records (either manually or on system) with record of stock inspection and required data/comments
  • Reports consolidated inspection results, as well as any abnormalities or damage
Service, Repairs & Maintenance (Field or Workshop)
  • Plans maintenance for units under warranty, plans service in response to failure of equipment
  • Drafts & authorizes quotations for work
  • Assesses and diagnoses nature of the problem and schedules date, time and resources
  • Obtains all relevant manuals and resources and makes this available for the execution of work
  • Checks that tools/equipment required for work are available and in good working order
  • Remains abreast of changes/decisions implemented with regard to key issues/problems/improvements
  • Monitors and checks customer satisfaction, quality and safety adherence, problems and issues
  • Authorizes the ordering of parts & equipment
  • Implements & monitors special projects and drives designed to impact quality, machine availability and customer satisfaction
  • Monitors that appropriate staff with required skill level complete jobs within their abilities. Implement development plans/training/coaching to rectify
  • De-briefs staff on technical issues after completion of work
  • Monitors emergency orders
  • Checks that relevant documentation/systems has been updated with job detail, stock & parts usage, hours and comments as stipulated by procedure
  • Solves complex issues/problems and Monitors machine availability & costs
  • Monitors vehicle fleet - costs, usage, fuel, branding & image, drivers, licenses, fines, etc.
  • Produces consolidated reports on field service, provides feedback to Product Support on technical issues/problems & warranty information
  • Reports damage or abuse of machines
New Machine deliveries and Pre-Delivery Inspections
  • Plans assembly of new equipment & Pre-Delivery Inspections
  • Plans and schedules work steps, resources, dates and workspace for the receipt of new equipment
  • Oversees the assembly of units
  • Conducts compliance inspections after PDI has been completed
  • Monitors Work in Progress
  • Liaises with stakeholders with regard to delivery of machine
  • Reports on new machine statistics
Parts and Inventory management for repairs and maintenance
  • Participates in the planning of consumables and other inventory items required for repairs and maintenance
  • Remains abreast of changes/decisions implemented with regard to key issues/problems/improvements
  • Monitor the usage of consumables and parts stock
  • Monitors that there is not shrinkage of stock and that unused items are checked back into the system
  • Collates data on stock usage
  • Conducts ad hoc audits of job related information vs physical stock
  • Reports on stock usage, stock financials, issues and problems
  • Plans for the modification of equipment & gains approval
  • Obtains technical advice with regard to the modification
  • Remains abreast of changes/decisions implemented with regard to key issues/problems/improvements
  • Troubleshoots/diagnoses equipment modifications and considers implications
  • Authorizes orders for parts
  • Gains approval for modification
  • Monitors Work in Progress
  • Reports metrics relating to previous changes/implementations
  • Updates and signs off relevant documentation and/or systems
  • Reports on quality issues, problems or customer feedback with regard to job
Modifications
  • Plans for the modification of equipment & gains approval

  • Troubleshoots/diagnoses equipment modifications and considers implications

Overhaul
  • Plans for overhaul of equipment with regard to time, workshop, materials/stock, working time & gains approval
  • Obtains all relevant manuals and resources and makes this available for the execution of work
  • Checks that tools/equipment required for work are available and in good working order
  • Remains abreast of changes/decisions implemented with regard to key issues/problems/improvements
  • Agrees work steps and technical issues
  • Authorizes orders for relevant parts and stock for execution of task
  • Monitors Work in Progress
  • Inspects equipment/unit for compliance and quality
  • Reports on overhaul statistics, problems, issues and product feedback
  • Reports on cost recovery, parts usage, etc.
  • Physical Workshop Management (in addition to service, inventory control & inspections)
  • Plans work and resource allocation in physical workshop
  • Approves expenditure for the procurement of workshop assets
  • Solves problems and issues with regard to the physical workshop environment
  • Enables a productive environment
  • Monitors the workshop environment for cleanliness and SHE compliance
  • Monitors/Supervises physical security of workshop, yard and assets
  • Oversees the usage and safekeeping of equipment, such as testing devices, electronic equipment, tools, vehicles, etc.
  • Monitors health and safety risks in the physical workshop environment - such as servicing of fire extinguishers, clear signage, etc.
  • Monitors the receipt of machines/equipment and stock for the workshop
  • Reports on workshop equipment damage, inventory, costs, required upgrades, space usage, workflow and maintenance
Job Costing and Financial & General Administration
  • Drafts and/or authorizes quotations for work
  • Adheres to procedures relating to the vetting of new suppliers and loading financial control information on the system
  • Authorizes job/work order costs (including overtime)
  • Authorizes the payment of creditors
  • Oversees the warranty claim process
  • Liaises with internal stakeholders with regard to warranty claims and reasons for claim
  • Plans and participates in audits
  • Controls and monitors the asset register
  • Adheres to and monitors adherence to Financial Policies and Procedure
  • Verifies that information on quotations, invoices and receipts are correct
  • Checks that filing of required source documents (paper files) are up-to-date
  • Overseeing and checking that systems data is correct and up-to-date
  • Assisting in the follow-up of outstanding debtors
  • Drafts financial reports vs budget
  • Resolves financial issues & queries
  • Reports on warranty claims
  • Collates metrics for reporting purposes
Requisites
  • 3 Year Degree/Diploma
