Bank Windhoek is hiring a Regional Manager Central/South, in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • Responsible for driving, implementation, and delivery of the Retail Banking Services strategy in the branch network across the region
  • Responsible for growth, overall performance, human capital, and branch operations of the branches within the region
Duties
KEY PERFORMANCE Areas (KPAs):Growth Focus:
  • Scrutinize the market/business environment to identify opportunities for growth
  • Support retail branches in the region, in conjunction with the Sales function, to implement growth initiatives and enable sales
  • Monitor and manage sales performance and growth across the branch network in the region
  • Embed and maintain a high-performance sales culture across the branch network in the region
  • Ensure that the Sales force in the region is adequately equipped and trained to sell products that meet customer needs
Customer Focus:
  • Ensure the delivery and maintenance of customer service excellence by cultivating a customer centric culture with specific focus on the different segments
  • Actively support Branch Managers to manage and maintain key client relationships in the region
  • Manage and direct activities in the assigned region and ensure customer engagement platforms are enhanced and maintained
  • Oversee relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, and visit and engage these stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Ensure that the Client Relationship Model as prescribed is managed and maintained
Credit and Collateral Management:
  • Ensure that Credit portfolios are proactively managed in the branches across the region. This include managing IFRS 9 provision and impairment chargers
  • Evaluate Credit portfolios and exception reports to identify potential issues and trends to manage Branches to address and resolve these
  • Assist Branches to ensure Credit applications are of high quality and assist Branch Managers in cases where interventions are required in this regard
  • Responsible for the review and recommendation of Credit mandates for branches in the regions for recommendation (via the Executive Officer) to Credit Department for consideration and approval
  • Review total contribution, including interest rate margins, to ensure Credit portfolios are optimised and meeting the required returns for the associated risks
  • Manage “Risk and Control Self Assessments” (RCSA) in the region and ensure all findings are being managed and addressed to maintain a sound risk environment
  • Attend to top clients at risk in the region and report action taken and progress made on a regular basis and at formally scheduled credit forums
  • Critically analyse management assurance-, audit-, and credit reports and ensure findings are addressed timely and resolved adequately
Operational functions:
  • Provide input to enhance the branch assessment model and evaluate the model to identify areas requiring improvement in the region’s branches to ensure adherence to and compliance with the required risk and control standards
  • Critically analyse management assurance-, audit-, and operational risk reports of the branches in the region and ensure findings are addressed timely and resolved adequately
  • Evaluate company policies, processes and procedures applicable to retail branches on an ongoing basis to ensure the required in-branch processes, reconciliations and controls are effectively executed
  • Interrogate existing processes to identify opportunities to optimisatise and automate processes to deliver a lower cost branch service model
  • Oversee the effective use of the Internal Control Questionnaire (ICQ) list with management in order to minimize administrative and routine related risk issues
  • Provide leadership, accountability and support to Branch Managers in management of the branch assessment model and financial statements (i.e. Advances/Funding/Interest Income/Non
  • Interest Income/Expenses/Net Profit) and address any shortcoming or deviations
  • Ensure adequate business continuity plans are in place for the branches in the region
  • Exercise control over and optimise the use of company vehicles operating in the region
  • Support other region’s branches in the absence of their assigned Regional Manager
Financial Management and Reporting:
  • Responsible for evaluating and interpreting Financial Statements and related information to monitor, manage and optimize the financial performance of branches in the region
  • Responsible for leading the budgeting process from a Retail Banking Services perspective for the branches in the assigned region during the budgeting cycles run by the Finance Department
  • Responsible for the compilation and presentation for regional reports to certain forums, covering but not limited to financial performance, sales performance, credit management, and other Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and related action plans
People management:
  • Provide leadership to the entire team, defining objectives to be achieved by the function and ensuring effective execution of the duties of the function
  • Effectively delegate authority and responsibility in line with business objectives to ensure empowerment, motivation and effectiveness of immediate subordinates
  • Monitor and manage performance by effectively completing assigned performance evaluations of direct reports and support branch managers in this process
  • Effectively manage recruitment, people development, training and the implementation of an effective talent management plan to ensure the development of future-fit leaders and to deliver an effective succession plan
  • Maintain effective, positive relationships with branch managers and staff through regular and consistent communication and engagement, also by way of in-branch visits

Requisites
Qualifications:
  • Minimum: bachelor’s degree in commerce, Finance or related field
  • Ideal: (CA) Chartered Accountant / MBA
Experience:
  • Five (5) years in a senior management and/or executive position
