Section Planner: Town Planning

Description

• Manage and Direct the Section to ensure the provision of quality town planning services to customers by facilitating, guiding and implementing the development needs of the City, as well as to develop, manage and enforce the policies and regulations of the Department
• This Section will oversee the evaluation and approval of Resident Occupations and Shebeen applications, Enforcement of illegal land uses, updating of the E-planner system with the cadastral and zoning changes and provide comments to Property Management on erf applications for 10m public open spaces

Duties

• Supervisor the work of the staff members in the Section Town Planning
• Oversee the Provision of Professional and Technical Town Planning Services
• Ensure and coordinate, development, facilitation and implementation of urban policies and regulations to improve urban growth management
• General duties

Requisites

• Requirements:
• Professional Bachelor or Masters Degree in Town and Regional Planning as promulgated by NCTRP in terms of Act 9 of 1996 with a minimum period of five (5) years job related experience as a Registered Town and Regional Planner
• Registration as Town Planner with Namibia Council for Town and Regional Planners and a code B/BE drivers license
• Required Knowledge:
• Local Authorities Act, Town Planning Ordinance; Township and Division of Land Ordinance; Town Planning Scheme; Policies; Procedures; and Legislation; Design Techniques; Tools and Principles; Project Management; Environmental Management and Community Development
• Skills Required:
• Complex Problem Solving , critical thinking; decision making; interpersonal; leadership; crisis management; time management; computer literacy; verbal and written communication skills
