DBN is recruiting a Senior Business Analyst, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • Reporting to the Head: SME Finance, the Senior Business Analyst is responsible to provide advice and investment support to potential and existing clients, to offer specific business analysis services, such as financial analysis, financial modelling and risk assessment, and to assign, coordinate and guide the activities of the SME analyst to ensure efficiency and procedural compliance in order to ensure that the Bank grant sound development loans and to minimize risk

Duties
  • Source deals through a dedicated deal origination and business generation strategy while also accommodating walk in clients
  • Appraise and evaluate new loan applications and investment proposals
  • Perform detailed analysis of loan applications, including financial analysis, valuations, financial modelling, risk analysis, sector / industry analysis and site visits
  • Draft an appraisal report and make appropriate recommendations for approval by the Senior Credit Manager: SME Finance
  • Explain the contents of an approved term sheet to the clients and the process that the process will follow in terms of final approval
  • Provide all client information, documentation and term sheets to the Collateral Unit for verification, where after the Credit Risk Department will verify all risk factors pertaining to the loan application
  • Provide advisory support to clients, including conducting client consultations, offering recommendations for possible business support to build the capacity of existing clients and their business plans, conduct a needs analysis of the business/enterprise and maintain sound client relationships with existing clients
  • Provide information and ad hoc administrative services, including reports related to loan book data and economic factors and other periodic standardised reports
  • Oversee the direct reporting staff’s work outputs to ensure the effective execution of their roles and responsibilities, including setting performance targets, conducting performance reviews, providing feedback and coaching, addressing development needs, maintaining clear communication channels and sharing information, and resolving high level queries, problems and conflict situations
Requisites
  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics or Commerce (NQF level 7) from a NQA recognized tertiary institution
  • At least 5 years’ experience dealing with project management or project finance, preferably within a financial institution
  • Strong background in lending and deal origination
  • Good grasp of credit principles ideally in a Banking environment
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound customer orientation or focus
  • Resilience and sound planning and organising skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal sensitivity and teamwork orientation
  • Attention to detail, analytical skills and evaluation skills
