DBN is recruiting a Senior Compliance Officer (m/f), to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • Paterson Grade C4
  • Reporting to the Manager: Risk & Compliance, the Senior Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that all Banks internal standards are compliant with regulatory legislation and laws, the execution of the Annual Compliance Management Program, including regulatory compliance monitoring, DBN policies and procedures, and executing compliance awareness and communication in the Bank
Duties
  • Conduct regular assessments to determine whether policies are compliant with the relevant regulations
  • Interpret new regulations and incorporate relevant requirements into the CRMP to ensure policies and procedures are regulatory compliant
  • Implement and facilitate the Bank Compliance Risk Assessment; and compliance audits and present such reports to relevant Head of Departments and committees
  • Assist in the development of relevant compliance tools for the allocated regulatory requirements to aid management to manage associated compliance risk
  • Carry out and review Financial Intelligence Act (FIA) due diligence on loan transactions including EDD on high risk transactions, PEP, and pre- and post-sanction screening of the DBN loan book
  • Follow through with the management on non-compliance incidents mitigating measures to closure and update the Compliance Report
  • Monitor all operational processes and procedures using a compliance management platform to ensure that the
  • Bank complies with all legal regulations and internal standards
  • Train and educate staff so that they are informed of any regulatory changes and update the compliance guidelines
Requisites
  • A relevant Bachelor Degree (NQF level 7)
  • Professional Certification as a Compliance Practitioner/internal auditing would be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience of which 3 years should be in compliance management/auditing preferably in a commercial environment, including a combination of banking and regulatory compliance
  • Membership of the Compliance Institute of South Africa (CISA) will be a distinct advantage
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Good track record of interpersonal skills and commitment to teamwork
  • Good information processing and analytical skills
  • A self-starter with influencing skills
  • A demonstrable proactive approach to work and problem solving
