Swakop Uranium is recruiting a Senior Engineer: Projects (Electrical), to be based in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Description
  • To complete engineering and construction projects, by planning, organising, controlling all elements of the project, and executing the defined project within time and with budget provisions
Duties
  • Develop project objectives, by reviewing project proposals and plans, and conferring with management
  • Interpret Company Project program requirements, and formulate and implement project plans accordingly
  • Identify project responsibilities, by determining the phases and elements of the project, overseeing and co-coordinating the technical aspects of the project, through project coordination meetings and other forms of communication
  • Maintain project schedule, by monitoring project progress, co-coordinating activities and resolving problems
  • Assign project personnel to specific phases or aspects of the project in accordance with engineering discipline
  • Oversee contractor work activities and ensure compliance with all SU SSHER-Q requirements
  • Manage activities of Owners Engineer, equipment suppliers and Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contractors
  • Allocate project resources appropriately and control project costs, by approving expenditures within budget parameters and administering contractor contracts
  • Provide input into the section’s annual operational budget, by forecasting costs and monitor expenditure and cash flow on a regular basis.
  • Ensure legal and procedural compliance of projects
Requisites
  • Grade 12 or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects
  • BSc/ BEng/ BTech / in Electrical Engineering
  • Postgraduate Project Management Certificate will be an added advantage
  • 5 years’ experience in a projects environment of which 2 years should have been in a senior capacity
  • Proven experience in multi-disciplinary projects and exposure to research and development work into new / improved project
  • Understand risk management processes
  • Sound experience in quality management principles and processes
  • Sound working relationships and should be able to work in a multi- national environment
  • Excellent track record of contract & contractor management, people management and stakeholder engagement
  • Registration with the Engineering Council of Namibia
  • Government Certificate of Competency will be an added advantage
  • Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License
