Senior Risk Specialist: Operations & Ethics

• The Senior Risk Specialist: Operations and Ethics is responsible for implementing the Operational Risk Policy
• This role entails identifying, analyzing, and assessing operational risks, as well as monitoring, maintaining, treating, and mitigating the risks
• The role includes updating the information security management program, including business continuity planning, overseeing the review of policies, business processes, and procedures, and supporting initiatives to enhance risk awareness

Duties

• Assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of Risk & Compliance strategic initiatives aimed at implementing and embedding the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework
• Implement and facilitate an operational risk-based assessment programme or ad hoc projects in the business units
• Facilitate the identification of operational risk within business processes during business process mapping
• Perform and review the Business Unit process risk assessments, profile and conduct process effectiveness through testing and reviews
• Maintain and monitor the Audit Finding Tracker and track the progress of the mitigation actions in the Business Units Risk Register
• Prepare monthly Operational Risk report, Quarterly Risk reports for tabling at the Risk Committees
• Assist in coordinating disaster recovery and business continuity planning, testing responsiveness and communication to all relevant stakeholders
• Coordinate and monitor the maintenance of changes to the Policies, Business Processes and procedures required by liaising with the Policy Owners
• Coordinate the assessment of the ethical culture e.g. by utilizing Ethical Culture Risk Indicators (ECR) as designed

Requisites

• Relevant B Degree plus a post graduate qualification (Certificate) in Risk Management
• Occupational Risk Practitioners would be an added advantage
• Membership of the Institute of Risk Managers South Africa (IRMSA) would be a distinct advantage
• A minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience of which 2 years should be in risk management preferably in a commercial environment
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good customer orientation/focus
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to contribute to teamwork
• A keen attention to detail
• Good analytical and evaluation skills
