Staff Geologist

Description

• Namdeb Diamond Corporation invites interested individuals to be part of alluvial mining operations that offer unique challenges for professionals who wish to be part of a world-class operation

Duties

• The geologist role aimed to develop technical capability in the geology realm while building a sound understanding of the business requirements
• The role further aimed to train and develop the incumbent in geological data acquisition operations, processing and interpretation that are relevant to the exploration, mineral resource management and mining activities of Namdeb's placer deposit

Requisites

• BSc Honours degree in Geology or equivalent (NQF 8)
• Registered professional in a recognised body (e.g. SACNASP) is an advantage
• Valid SADC drivers’ license
• Applicants will be subjected to an assessment
• Familiarity with placer deposits desirable but not prerequisite
• Knowledge:
• Regional mapping and stratigraphy:
• Basic understanding of the onshore and offshore stratigraphy of Namibia
• Basic understanding of geological analytical tools and methods
• Basic knowledge of placer deposits and their formation
• Computer literate (MS Office or similar)
• Basic understanding of the data types, collection and representation of spatial data
• Basic GIS skills
• Basic understanding of safety and controls compliance
• Basic statistics
• Skills:
• Basic geological exploration methodology
• Willingness to learn & strong application capability
• Able to capture data
• Able to self-assure data completeness and accuracy
• Ability to compile/author routine reports/ technical documents
• Adequate verbal and written English communication skills
• Willingness and ability to be in the geological field conditions for prolonged periods
