Dundee Precious Metals is recruiting a Supervisor: Instrumentation, in Tsumeb, Namibia.
Description
  • The incumbent will report to the Superintendent: Automation and Instrumentation and be accountable for:
Duties
  • Ensure adherence to all Legal, Health, Safety and Environment standards and policies
  • Lead by example through compliance with the company purpose and values
  • Manage and supervise all related daily tasks and projects of instrumentation team
  • Uphold, develop, implement, and maintain best and safe engineering practices for the instrumentation section
  • Improve equipment reliability and availability through quality maintenance as well as application of appropriate engineering standards within workshop to satisfy client needs
  • Effective supervision and management of employees, budget and other resources under one’s control to achieve company goals
  • Maintain strong planning orientation and compliance to the company work management system
  • Effective shut planning, execution, and contractor supervision
  • Proactively identify areas to prevent unplanned stoppages and maintain strong production focus and provide feedback to stakeholders on work done
  • Investigate and solve technical problems that involve equipment and processes that affect product quality and equipment reliability
  • Effective teamwork and coordination with all stakeholders with focus on being service orientated
  • Facilitate the ongoing development of knowledge, skills, and personal growth of team members
Requisites
  • Grade 12 certificate with a minimum of 23 points in 6 subjects
  • A National Engineering Certificate (N3) in Electrical Engineering: Instrumentation with 4 subjects or a National Diploma in Instrumentation or Industrial Automation (NQF Level 6)
  • A National Trade Certificate (Level 3) or equivalent in Electrical Engineering: Instrumentation
  • A minimum of 10 years relevant post-trade test work experience of which, a minimum of 5 years should have been on supervisory level
  • Practicable skills, maintenance related experience in an industrial environment Copper Smelter experience will be an advantage
  • Sound knowledge of all instrumentation concepts, designs, standards, installations, and safe practices in an industrial environment
  • Proven record of successful implementation of instrumentation maintenance systems, modifications and/or upgrades to increase reliability and improve plant performance or efficiency
  • Sound knowledge of process control systems (DCS and PLC) and related hardware and equipment. Knowledge of Yokogawa control systems will be an advantage
  • Sound knowledge of Industrial Networking and associated equipment and principles.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office packages, with strong Excel skills)
  • Code B Driver’s License
