Bank Windhoek is recruiting a Treasury Sales and Sustainability Manager, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • The Treasury Sales and Sustainability Analyst (TA) works closely with and supports the Treasury team with research, analysis, proposals and recommendations that add value and substance to the solutions and products managed and sold while deepening and expanding customer relationships and activities that enhance revenue generation under Treasury’s mandate, specifically within the foreign exchange and Funding space
Duties
Strategic Focus
  • Assist in identifying, research and implementing products based on client needs to ensure a competitive stance and ability to achieve high levels of cross-selling
  • Assist funding desk in the analysis of Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) to ensure accurate application to balance sheet
  • Assist in the delivery of client-focused solutions when preparing pricing proposals, presentations, and relationship reviews
  • Develop and nurture strategic relationships with existing and potential Clients, Funder(s) and Stakeholders
  • Assist in ensuring a sufficient and correct mix of financial resources at the Bank and Group level in order to achieve strategic goals, financial covenants and budget
  • Recommend allocation and management of sustainability funding resources to prioritize ROE growth and delivery of the latest strategy and budgets
  • Proactively identity sustainability initiatives and developmental projects (Client(s)) in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
  • Co-ordinate and assist in structuring the finance of sustainability initiatives and developmental projects, as requested by Business
Business Acumen and Market Understanding
  • Understanding and analysis of liquidity, currency and interest rate risk including model methodologies and assumptions, risk appetite and limits, risk positions and market exposures, policy and governance, processes, frameworks and the measuring, monitoring and reporting of market and liquidity risk
  • Highlight material risks and develop opportunities and strategies to add value and protect earnings taking into account interest rate and currency outlooks
  • Strong awareness and understanding of the activities of the traditional and non-traditional competitors and the impact on the Group’s relationship with the Funder(s)/Investors and Client(s)/Borrowers
  • Awareness of Government and Regulator strategy and market participation, with a special focus on sustainability reporting
  • Daily monitoring of market trends and sustainability initaitves to remain up to date with current economic developments and events
  • Continuous awareness of competitors’ funding strategies, clients’ changing needs and market interest rates for both wholesale and retail investors
  • Monitor Macroeconomic trends and develop relevant strategic plans to assist the business to capitalise on opportunities
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing the management of Treasury products and risks via innovation and utilization of technology systems
Product Management
  • Assist with analysis of Treasury products and pricing to ensure optimal non-interest income and net interest margins
  • Engage with stakeholders in order to draft concept documents, Business case and scope of work for proposed new products and systems
  • Identify areas of improvement in FX Profit allocations and FTP mechanisms and formulate/table solutions for stakeholder discussion and approval
  • Assist in communicating and understanding the FX profit and FTP enhancements to the businesses, aiming to resolve issues timeously
  • Assist in the implementation of balances and liquidity funding forecasting methodology
  • Analysis of unhedged liquidity and market risks positions including rate insensitive assets and liabilities to assist the trading desk in executing appropriate strategies and hedges
  • Assist in the management of regulatory, rating agency and investor relations agendas
  • Understand the extent to which the balance sheet position impacts the financial performance of the Bank
  • Work with Risk to propose and develop risk appetites and associated policies
  • Support communication with key stakeholders;
  • Attend LRF, ALCO,CRF, Fees and Charges and all relevant committees and Boards as required
  • Support ALCO in terms of decision making by providing relevant capital, liquidity and balance sheet analysis,
Co-ordination of Strategic and Sustainability Funding and Lending
  • Co-ordinate the assessment and viability of any DFI, Grants, loans or other non-deposit funding resources offered to the Bank, including the legal terms and covenants, costs and pricing
  • Compare the offered funding (terms and pricing) to existing resources and other potential funding in order to determine total effective cost and ability to on-lend at the required ROE or margin
  • Obtain Legal and Finance input on terms, conditions, and covenants of the loan or funding agreement before submitting for relevant committee approval
  • Engage with all relevant internal stakeholders to match potential funding sources with known business proposals or loan applications around sustainability or similar initiatives
  • Contribute knowledge of the Client(s), to the risk assessment process, and provide insights into mitigating or cautionary factors to the risk assessment specialists Communicate and share leads or information obtained from the Funders and/or Client with relevant departments and/or Group companies
  • Responsible for identifying a “champion” within the Funder’s business and fostering the relationship
  • Responsible for building relationships across all hierarchical levels within and outside the Group
  • Maintain robust relationships with all business units and ensure knowledge transfer
  • Manage the analysis of products, market and client as part of the sales and sustainability project process, including all pre-call and post-call sales activities, tracking deal progress, and pricing recommendations
Client and Stakeholder Engagement, Service Delivery
  • Assist in preparation of client and sales presentations using analysis statements, reviewing activity and consolidating data
  • Gathers information to enhance pricing proposals
  • Support the Treasury team in designing and delivering integrated Treasury Management solutions consisting of multiple products across multiple jurisdictions and regions
  • Assist in the coordination of complex RFP processes together with the Treasury Sales team and other departments within the Group
  • Assist in coordinating and preparing required onboarding documentation for Treasury accounts and services in conjunction with other departments or entities ensuring that our clients’ experience and the transition is seamless
  • Support the preparation of documentation and updating of strategy and action plans as needed
  • Engage with business on aspects related to products and processes impacting liquidity and market risk
  • Communicate and engage with business stakeholders on pricing, product FTP and other enhancements and initiatives within the funding and FX space and work with the relevant teams to implement
  • Provide professional and effective services to internal and external customers (funders and clients) and meet customer expectations in line with the Group’s procedures and guidelines
  • Accompany Treasury when required to better understand the business of major funders, clients, and stakeholders of the Group to structure and negotiate funding and sustainability deals
  • Manage the standard and quality of the information included in proposals to funders and clients requiring access to funding and sustainability initaitves
  • Lead the internal approval process to secure funds and proposed transactions
  • Identify barriers to business development that emanate from sales and service delivery dissatisfaction, and develop strategies to address these problems
Risk Management and Compliance
  • Monitor and report on all key ratios and covenants adding forecasts and recommendations when necessary
  • Provide analysis that will aid the Treasury in the implementation of strategies to reduce the market and liquidity risks created in the normal course of banking business
  • Input into the KRI’s and PRP under Treasury’s management
  • Strict adherence to all the Group’s policies and procedures, specifically those related to risk and compliance Group Sustainability Framework
  • Support’s the group to complete due diligence processes for both securing of funds as well as determining the viability of sustainability initiatives
  • Responsible for monitoring local and international markets and pre-empting risk for both the Client and the Group
  • Identify potential risks (credit, market, counterparty) for each transaction and set risk mitigating measures in place to ensure minimum possible risk to the Group
  • Ensures that the Heads of Treasury, IBS, Corporate Banking, Business Banking, Credit as well as branch managers and applicable AEs are up to date with the Client’s existing business and possible opportunities and risks
  • Prepare motivation and application for changes to client, dealer or product limits
  • Draft circulars and communication to the group/bank ensuring employees are aware of changes, enhancements, new regulations or procedures
  • Ensure Treasury and IBS are aware of changes to Legislation, Regulation and internal policies and procedures directly impacting them or their clients
Processes, Systems and Functional
  • Draft related processes and procedures and ensure they are reviewed and updated regularly
  • Develop new systems and methods to ensure optimal functioning and manageable risk
  • Ensure that all agreements and policies etc. are reviewed, revised and approved at least annually or as and when required
  • Coordinate and negotiate with internal partners to ensure on-time delivery of client requests
  • Maintain accurate sales pipeline and ensure key relationship systems are kept current
  • Support departmental initiatives/projects, including sales campaigns, impacting the portfolio
  • Developing a working knowledge of all the Sustainability initiatives and Treasury products, systems and processes
People Management and Personal Development
  • Growth and development via regular updates of own PDP
  • Ensure the transfer of skills and knowledge to and coaching of all relevant internal and external stakeholders to facilitate business continuity and succession planning
  • Ensure communication is open and ongoing between relevant departments within the Group

Financial Management and Reporting
  • Review and submit all required reports to Treasurer and relevant committees and Boards on time and ensure that it is of high quality
  • Assist with the financial management processes and procedures of Treasury, ensuring Branches and departments understood and conform
  • Responsible for continually making suggestions to improve and adapt Treasury related processes for the benefit of the Group and the Client
  • Monitor and manage financial aspects of proposals, projects and initiatives in terms of actual versus budgets, variance analysis, losses, ROE etc.
  • General:
  • Assist the Treasurer and the sustainability and ESG analyst in the preparation of reports and presentations by supplying key data and analytics that enhance and substantiate the communication
  • Willing to perform any other reasonable and lawful instruction or task as instructed by Senior Treasury staff, EMT member or Group Head: Sustainability, ensuring it is carried out on time and accurately
Requisites
  • Experience/Knowledge & Skills:
  • At least 5 years of banking experience, specifically within the Treasury, Finance and/or Investment Banking environment
  • Experience with Sustainability initiatives and market developments will be an advantage
  • An additional six months of experience within the Credit and Retail Banking environment is an advantage
  • Good knowledge and understanding of banking financial services mechanisms and the entire range of products and services useful to corporate organisations
  • Strong modelling skills
  • Good knowledge of market risk and hedging instruments, including interest rate swaps and options products
  • Good knowledge of funding instruments
  • Good understanding of NII, market value, earnings at risk and value at risk
  • Experience in the analysis and investment of rate insensitive balances
  • A good working knowledge of Retail and Treasury Banking products
  • Ability to identify cross-selling opportunities and identify the relevant resources within the Group to optimise these selling opportunities
  • Good communication skills, both verbally and written

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics/ Investment Banking
  • ACI Dealing Certificate
