Standard Bank is recruiting a Wintel & Platforms Specialist (m/f), to be based in Luderitz, Namibia.
Duties
- Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Provide and manage technical and systems support to internal customers and technical management to ensure conformity with business needs
- Provides leadership for less experienced technical staff and works to resolve complex support requests which have been escalated for technical support
- Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff
- Providing high-quality technical support and troubleshooting for all Operating System technologies and unified product offerings
- Deliver solutions to both technical and non-technical end users while also supporting a wide range of Platform technologies
- Assists with recommending, scheduling, and implementing system hardware and/or software upgrades or repair
- Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
- Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure
- Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary
Requisites
- Degree in Computer Science/Programming or related field ,VMWare certification and Cloud Certification will be an advantage
- Knowledge of general desktop support issues, DNS, TCP/IP and other networking concepts
- Experience with VMWare, vSphere, Veaam or NetBackup and ESX
- Must have good working experience and knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems, EPO AV management system, Altiris or equivalent patch management systems
- Knowledge of Automation software like Docker and Ansibl, Microsoft applications and technologies, Exchange, Active Directory, WINS, SharePoint etc.
